Fentanyl Remediation Course
Course Description
SoRite DECON Fentanyl Awareness training program allows participants to take part in an interactive learning environment blended with lectures and hands-on real-world training. A foundation will be created amongst students in synthetic opioids history, identification, hazards, eradication, and personnel decontamination. PPE considerations will be discussed in-depth. Students will perform different sampling and identification techniques. Once the threat has been identified, students will apply and utilize SoRite DECON to oxidize the dangers associated with synthetic opioids. Individual practical exercises will be reinforced with group exercises as students call all the shots. This class is recommended for any local, state, or federal emergency response personnel including the private sector remediation specialists. Programs can be tailored to the specific needs of any entity.
Chris Ciolino is a 20-year veteran with a local fire department near the City of Chicago with the current rank of Battalion Chief. Chris is the Hazardous Materials Coordinator for a MABAS Division and assistant component leader for the hazmat function group with Illinois Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue Team. With over 20 years of experience in hazmat response and remediation, he has completed an associate’s degree of applied science in Fire Science Technology from Triton College, a bachelor’s degree in Fire Service Management from Southern Illinois University, and currently completing a master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Emergency Management from the University of New Haven. Above and beyond college degrees, Chris has completed over 60 classes, while traveling the country, involving hazardous materials, unknown substances, chemical emergencies involving fixed facilities, highway, and rail transportation, biological agents, nerve agents, radiological and nuclear material, air monitoring, National Incident Management System (NIMS), Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), and Response to Terrorist Bombings. In his down time, he works with HazChem Environmental Corporation as an Emergency Operations Manager, responding to and overseeing chemical emergencies throughout the Midwest. He also instructs a multitude of courses for the public and private sectors involving hazardous materials response, the chemistry of hazardous materials, decontamination, remediation, disposal, and transportation.
